Terrazzo Flake Floors in Vancouver
The Terrazzo Look in a Resin Floor
Terrazzo flake floors give you the speckled, stone filled look of terrazzo in a seamless resin floor. We broadcast a blend of chips such as marble, quartz and glass into an epoxy body coat and lock them in with a clear topcoat. The result reads like terrazzo, costs far less than poured and ground terrazzo, and installs over your existing concrete in days. Epoxy Experts installs terrazzo flake floors in homes, retail spaces, lobbies and offices across Metro Vancouver. See our concrete coatings page for every system we offer.

Terrazzo Flake vs Traditional Terrazzo
Traditional terrazzo is made by mixing chips into cement or epoxy, pouring it, then grinding and polishing it flat. It is beautiful and very expensive, and it takes specialist crews and weeks of work.
A terrazzo flake floor gets a similar look a different way. The chips are broadcast into a wet epoxy body coat rather than mixed in and ground, and a clear topcoat seals them in. Because there is no grinding of the finished surface, it installs faster and costs much less. The tradeoff is that it is a coated floor with a clear topcoat on the surface, so heavy wear areas may eventually need a fresh topcoat.
How Terrazzo Flake Compares to Other Decorative Floors
Standard flake
Larger decorative flake chips with a textured finish. The most popular garage floor.
Terrazzo flake
A finer chip blend with a terrazzo style look and a smooth clear finish.
Polished concrete
The natural stone in your slab, exposed and polished. See concrete polishing.
Popular Uses
Homes
Basements, mudrooms, garages and laneway houses that want something more refined than standard flake.
Retail and showrooms
A designed floor that hides daily wear under foot traffic.
Lobbies and offices
The terrazzo look in reception areas at a fraction of poured terrazzo cost.
Stairs and landings
Chip systems with anti slip additives work on stairs, as on our Costco stairway project.
How We Install a Terrazzo Flake Floor
Choose your blend
We show you chip blends and colour combinations and confirm the look before ordering.
Diamond grind and repair
The slab is ground with dust extraction and cracks are filled so the floor is flat.
Primer and body coat
A primer, then a pigmented epoxy body coat that sets the background colour.
Broadcast the chips
The chip blend is broadcast into the wet body coat to the density you picked.
Scrape and clear coat
Loose chips are removed and a clear topcoat seals the surface, with anti slip additives where needed.
Looking After a Terrazzo Flake Floor
Sweep or dust mop regularly and clean with a pH neutral cleaner. The clear topcoat resists stains and makes cleanup easy. In busy commercial areas, the topcoat can be refreshed years later without redoing the chip layer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a terrazzo flake floor real terrazzo?
No. It is a resin floor with chips broadcast into epoxy and clear coated to give a terrazzo look. Traditional terrazzo is poured and ground, and costs much more.
How much does a terrazzo flake floor cost?
We quote terrazzo flake floors after a site visit, because the chip blend, slab condition and size all affect the price. It costs far less than poured terrazzo.
Can terrazzo flake go on stairs?
Yes. Chip systems with anti slip additives work on stairs and landings.
Is terrazzo flake slippery?
The clear topcoat can include anti slip additives, which we recommend for entries, stairs and wet areas.
